Ashes 2023: "If They Continue To Play Bazball Despite The Two Losses, They Have My Respect" - Ravichandran Ashwin Backs England’s Approach

Veteran Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin expressed his support for England’s aggressive playing style in the longer format of the game. Ravichandran Ashwin said that the Ben Stokes-led team should continue with their approach despite their 0-2 deficit in the ongoing Ashes series.
The England cricket team adopted ultra-aggressive cricket in the Ashes 2023 series. The home team batters played reckless shots in the tournament and lost control of the Test match at Lord’s. England suffered a 43-run loss against Australia in the second Test of the five-match series.

Scoring At 4 Runs Per Over Is Still Bazball – Ravichandran Ashwin
In a video on his YouTube channel, Ravichandran Ashwin discussed England’s Bazball approach in the Ashes 2023 series.
“If they continue to play Bazball despite the two losses, they have my respect. See this is the cricket they have played and there will be some wins and some losses. As the saying goes, ‘He who wins by the sword, does by the sword,'” Ashwin said.
“If they continue their approach then it will be an incredible balance and they have my backing. England can continue to play Bazball, but instead of trying to score at 5.5-6 runs per over, they can look to score at 3.5-4 runs per over. Scoring at 4 runs per over is still Bazball,” he added.

Australia Have All Bases Covered – Ravichandran Ashwin
Ravichandran Ashwin believes that England’s Bazball worked against weak teams but failed to deliver against balanced squads like Australia.
“The problem with England is that Australia have the arsenal to counter them. Pakistan played two debutant spinners and their fast bowlers didn’t have any bounce to work with, so it (Bazball) came off,” he continued.
“Against Ireland it came off. For that matter, against New Zealand too, it came off. These teams didn’t have express pace bowlers and a quality spinner but Australia have all bases covered,” he concluded.
The Ben Stokes-led England team is eager to make a comeback in the Ashes 2023 series when they face Australia in the third Test at Headingley in Leeds, starting on Thursday, July 6.
