Asia Cup 2023: "According To Today’s Fitness Report..." - Rohit Sharma Provides Huge Update On Rishabh Pant

Indian captain Rohit Sharma gave an update about keeper-batter Rishabh Pant. He said that the southpaw is not fit yet and was not available for selection for the Asia Cup 2023.
Rishabh Pant met with a tragic accident in December 2022 and was hospitalized for months. He faced multiple injuries and underwent knee surgery as well. The keeper-batter since then has missed a lot of cricket and his absence has been quite evident as well.
Rishabh Pant missed IPL 2023 and also didn’t feature in the ICC World Test Championship Final for India. To worsen the case more, he has been ruled out of the upcoming Asia Cup 2023 and there are very high chances that he will also miss the ICC World Cup 2023.
After his surgery, Rishabh Pant has been toiling hard at the NCA. The keeper-batter has shown great signs of progression and had even surprised BCCI officials as well with his recovery process. He also has resumed batting and wicketkeeping in the nets and there have been reports that he will be back in action during the 2024 Test series against England.
During the press conference of the Asia Cup selection for Team India, captain Rohit Sharma was asked about Rishabh Pant’s fitness. Replying to which he said that the keeper batter isn’t ready to play yet. He explained:
“Unfortunately, Rishabh is not fit yet. According to today’s fitness report, Rishabh Pant is not ready for Asia Cup 2023 selection.”

Further shedding light on the injuries of players, Rohit Sharma said that it is something that is part and parcel of the game and every team is facing setbacks because of that. He said that they tried their best to bring other guys to do the job. He stated:
“Injuries are a part and parcel [of the game]. Injuries are not just happening in India, they are happening everywhere around the world. If you look at England, Australia, injuries are happening. But, what we try and do is do the best that we can – get in some of the other boys to come in and fit into the job.”
