Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Zaka Ashraf has said that the board is yet to take a decision as to whether or not to change Pakistan coaches. Zaka Ashraf informed that the committee set up to look into the matter will give their analysis which will foster the decision.
Former Pakistan captain and coach Misbah-ul-Haq is the head of the committee who will submit a report on Pakistan coaches. Misbah-ul-Haq was appointed as the consultant to look into the matter and he will provide his analysis later on whether or not to change Pakistan’s current coaches.
No Concrete Decision On Whether To Change Coaches As Of Now: Zaka Ashraf
In an interview with Cricket Pakistan, PCB chairman Zaka Ashraf said that there is no concrete decision on whether or not to change coaches as of now.
“I don’t think it matters whether coaches are local or foreign. There’s no concrete decision on whether to change coaches as of now”, Zaka Ashraf said.
The PCB chairman also added that the committee headed by Misbah-ul-Haq will look into the matter. After their analysis, the decision will be taken.
“I’ve created a committee headed by Misbah-ul-Haq. That committee will look at all cricketing matters and will consult any cricketers they want to be a part of it. When they give us their final analysis, I’ll get involved in the discussion and we’ll make a joint decision that is in the best interests of Pakistan cricket,” Zaka Ashraf further added.
During Najam Sethi’s interim six-month stint as PCB chairman, Mickey Arthur was appointed as team director of the Pakistan team in April this year. In the following month, Grant Bradburn was picked as the head coach. Rehan-ul-Haq was appointed as the team manager.
Notably, Misbah-ul-Haq had slammed PCB’s decision of appointing Mickey Arthur as team director. He called the appointment of Arthur a slap on Pakistan cricket. Arthur was the head coach of Pakistan in 2019 and Misbah had replaced him from the post.
Pakistan recently won a Test series against Sri Lanka 2-0. They will next face Afghanistan in an ODI series. Later, Babar Azam and Co. are set to co-host Asia Cup 2023 with Sri Lanka. Asia Cup 2023 commences on August 30.
