Pakistan is likely to host more than four matches in the upcoming edition of the Asia Cup 2023. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Asian Cricket Council (ACC) officials are currently in Dubai to finalize the schedule and other details for Asia Cup 2023.

Last month, the ACC announced that the tournament would be played in the hybrid model, as proposed by the PCB. After BCCI confirmed that India would not travel to Pakistan for the competition, the PCB came up with the hybrid model where they proposed to host the competition along with a neutral venue.

While the PCB had proposed the UAE as the neutral venue, the ACC eventually decided Sri Lanka as the venue. On June 15, the ACC announced that the sixteenth edition of the Asia Cup would be played from August 31 to September 17 in Sri Lanka and Pakistan. The ACC also announced that while Sri Lanka would host nine games, Pakistan would host only four.

And while it was expected that the PCB would give the tournament the green signal after the hybrid model was accepted, they are yet to do so. According to reports in Pakistani media, the reason behind the delay was that PCB wanted more games to be played in Pakistan.

According to Cricket Pakistan, PCB also wanted the matches to be played in two cities instead of just one. Earlier reports stated that all four games were to be held in Lahore while the PCB wanted Multan to host a few games too. And it looks like the PCB has received some good news from the ACC.

According to a report from RevSportz, both Lahore and Multan are likely to host the matches in Asia Cup 2023 while Kandy and Dambulla could be the venues in Sri Lanka. There is a chance that Pakistan might end up hosting more than four games in the upcoming competition. The ACC is likely to announce the full schedule later this week.
