England great Stuart Broad recently announced his retirement from international cricket. The 37-year-old bowed out of the game after the fifth and final Ashes Test against Australia earlier this week.

Stuart Broad retired from the game as one of the most decorated pacers of all time. He ended his illustrious Test career with 604 wickets. Only his teammate and long-time former bowling partner James Anderson has taken more wickets than him in the history of Test cricket. He picked up more than 200 wickets in white-ball formats too.

And less than 48 hours after retiring from international cricket, Stuart Broad donned the hat of a commentator for the ongoing The Hundred. The former England fast-bowler has taken up a role as part of Sky Sports’ cricket coverage and has been plying his trade in The Hundred.

Stuart Broad expresses admiration for Shaheen Afridi:

In a recent interview with Sky Sports, Stuart Broad expressed his admiration for Pakistan pace spearhead Shaheen Afridi and said that he loves to see the pacer in action. Afridi is currently playing for Welsh Fire in The Hundred.

One of the best fast bowlers in the world at present, Afridi hit the ground running in the competition as he picked up two wickets in his first two deliveries. Stuart Broad stated that he is fascinated by Afridi’s ability to swing the ball back into right-handed players.

“Shaheen Shah Afridi is one of my favorite bowlers to watch in the world,” Stuart Broad told Sky Sports.

“He has got such a great presence about him when he runs in, and I love bowlers run in with energy and vibrancy to their run-up.

“He has got such a natural skill – the way that ball swings back into the right-handers is such a pleasure to watch. And he represented the Notts Outlaws this summer, which is close to my heart. He’s one of the bowlers I admire hugely, and I want to see him do well,” he added.

Shaheen Afridi will soon be seen in action in international cricket when he leads his team’s attack in the Asia Cup. After the Asia Cup, he will arrive in India for the first time to play in the highly-anticipated ICC World Cup 2023.
