We are witnessing the off-field verbal spats between BCCI & PCB. Legendary all-rounder & former Pakistan PM Imran Khan pointed out that BCCI has become arrogant & are dominating the sport. Imran Khan also stated that BCCI are ruining the rivalry between the two gigantic cricketing nations.
PCB wants to host the Asia Cup 2023 in Pakistan where ACC (Asian Cricket Council) along with BCCI have made it clear that the championship would take place in UAE or Qatar. Earlier, there were reports that Pakistan would play their matches in their back yard but it looks unlikely that would happen due to logistical issues.

The cricketing relationship between India & Pakistan is a sad affair – Imran Khan
Imran Khan was having an interaction with Times Radio & spoke about the dominance of BCCI in World Cricket. Imran Khan also pointed out that now Pakistan have its own league where there are producing world-class players.
“The cricketing relationship between India and Pakistan is a sad affair. India behaves arrogantly as if they are a superpower in world cricket. BCCI picks and chooses whom they want to play because India can generate a lot of money in world cricket due to which they behave arrogantly like a superpower,” said Imran Khan.
IPL 2023 | India National Cricket Team | Chennai Super Kings (CSK) | Delhi Capitals (DC) | Gujarat Titans (GT) | Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) | Lucknow Supergiants (LSG) | Mumbai Indians (MI) | Punjab Kings (PBKS) | Rajasthan Royals (RR) | Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) | SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH)
“BCCI is targeting Pakistani cricketers, which is a display of arrogance. However, Pakistan cricket now has its own quality T20 league [PSL] where foreign cricketers play. If India doesn’t allow Pakistan to play IPL then Pakistan should not worry about it because Pakistan itself has quality young cricketers,” he added.
Concerns for ICC
ICC should try to find a middle ground for Asia Cup 2023 as well as ODI WC 2023. We witnessed a cracker of the T20 WC 2022 clash between the two sides where it break a lot of viewership records. It looks unlikely that for one nation, the schedule of ODI WC 2023 would be tweaked.
PCB Chairman Najam Sethi has made it clear that they won’t travel to India citing security issues. PCB would be aware of the fact that if they boycott the WC 2023 tournament then they could be banned from the sport. The World Cricket would be worried because the situation at the moment doesn’t look encouraging.
