Ramiz Raja resigned from his position as the PCB chief after Pakistan’s Test series loss to England. The side was whitewashed 0-3 at home which has almost ended their hopes of making the final of the ongoing World Test Championship. Najam Sethi has taken over as the 37th chairman of the PCB.
Ramiz Rajs took to his post on September 2021 after winning an unopposed election. He was slated to hold onto his position for a three-year term but has relinquished his chair just after 15 months.

Under him, Pakistan tasted success in white-ball cricket making the semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2021 and making the finals of the ICC event in 2022. Pakistan managed to beat India in the 2021 contest but lost in Melbourne in 2022.
Pakistan Failed In Tests Under Ramiz Raja
However, as opposed to success in white-ball cricket, Pakistan stooped low at home in red-ball cricket. They succumbed to back-to-back Test series losses at home against Australia and then England. As said earlier, the loss 0-3 loss against England has almost ended their WTC final hopes.

Former Pakistan pacer Aaqib Javed has given his opinion on Ramiz Raja’s tenure as the PCB chief. He said that he suggested Raja vacate his chair but the former did not take his suggestion seriously. He further said that Raja was a one-man show in PCB.
Ramiz Raja Was A One-Man Show In PCB: Aaqib Javed
“Ramiz Raja was a one-man show in PCB which he admits himself. He was given a chance to work for the betterment of Pakistan Cricket. Now let Najam Sethi work in PCB. I advised Ramiz Raja to resign from his position and let the newly appointed Government bring the new Chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), but he didn’t listen to me,” Cricket Pakistan quoted Aqib as saying.
The former Pakistan pacer further said that he had suggested Ramiz Raja relinquish his position during Imran Khan’s tenure got over and urged people to show patience with Sethi and give him time to set things in order. However, the former Pakistan skipper did not take in this suggestion as well.
“Ramiz Raja himself should have resigned after Imran Khan’s government ended. Almost everyone, including PSL franchises, was sad during Ramiz Raja’s Chairmanship in PCB,” he said. “Najam Sethi has started well; the restoration of departments and regional teams will benefit our cricket a lot, and the players will get employment.”
Javed concluded by saying that Pakistan’s domestic cricket structure needs restructuring and Sethi is a keen follower of the country’s domestic cricket and is focused to improve it in the future.
