Asia Cup 2023 will be the final spot for team India before the ODI World Cup later this year, making it a crucial pit stop for all involved. It is now being revealed that the tournament will likely be played in Pakistan, while India will play its matches at a different avenue.
The tournament, which will be played in its 50-over format this year, will see 6 Asian countries battle it out for continental supremacy. the teams will be put in groups of 3 teams each. While India and Pakistan have been put in one group along with a qualifying team, the other group will see Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and reigning champions Sri Lanka. Both groups have each team play the other twice, with the top two teams qualifying for the semi-finals. This opens up the opportunity for an India-Pakistan contest 3 times.

The location fiasco for the Asia Cup has been discussed since last year
Following last year’s Asia Cup in UAE, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah said that this year’s tournament will be held at a “neutral venue,” citing security concerns for Indians in Pakistan.
Already having the hosting rights, then PCB-Chairman Ramiz Raja threatened to pull out of the tournament if it didn’t take place in their country. All Asian Cricket Council (ACC) members met for a meeting in Bahrain in mid-March, where they failed to meet a resolution. Although all members did agree that Asia Cup being held outside Pakistan is the most favorable option.
As it currently stands, the tournament will most probably be taking place in two venues, one of them being Pakistan.
