Legendary Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has finally broken the silence and issued a strong ultimatum to the fake creators who circulated a fake quote attributed to his name on social media regarding the Asia Cup 2025.
Already, there has been immense controversy over the India vs Pakistan Asia Cup 2025 match. The controversies have intensified due to the cross-border tensions and war-like situations between the two neighbouring nations, who have not just been rivals on the cricket field but on the battlefield as well.
Ever since the attacks on Pahalgam valley, there has also been speculation that India will pull out of the Asia Cup 2025 and will not play against Pakistan in recent times. However, no such thing has happened, as India is all set to take on Pakistan in the upcoming continental championship.
A Viral Post claimed Ashwin's derogatory remark on the BCCI regarding Asia Cup 2025
After the India vs Pakistan match in the ongoing World Championship of Legends was officially called off by the WCL organizing authority back on the 20th of July, a viral post on social media was circulated containing a statement made by former Indian cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin.
The post read that Ashwin, who is known to be outspoken on cricket matters via his YouTube channel Ash ki Baat and his podcast show Kutti Stories with Ash, has claimed that the India vs Pakistan WCL fixture was cancelled due to a lack of financial interest.
The post also contained that Ashwin said the same fixture in the upcoming Asia Cup remained on for a large amount of money being involved. The post last read, "The amount of money decided the level of patriotism.”
However, it is now known to all that the WCL fixture was cancelled, as the likes of several Indian cricketers Shikhar Dhawan, Harbhajan Singh, Suresh Raina, and skipper Yuvraj Singh, and more decided to opt out of the match.
Ashwin condemns fake claims with Twitter post
The post linked Ashwin to the ongoing India vs Pakistan controversies, as the statement issued could have resulted in a controversy between the veteran cricketer and the Indian Cricket Board, the BCCI.
Now, after the post went viral, Ashwin has finally resorted to opposing the post with a false alarm and sharply reprimanding the conspirators behind the fake post.
“Don’t associate me with this fake news. Shame on those who trigger all this," Ashwin wrote on his X post, dismissing the fake post.

Several Reasons combined have led to the India vs Pakistan match in the Asia Cup 2025
Though nothing has been made official by the BCCI, nor have they responded to any of the outrages from the Indian Cricket fans, several trustworthy sources like Cricbuzz and some more sports media houses have shed light on several reasons behind the BCCI's nod for the India vs Pakistan match.
Two of the biggest reasons that have been claimed are that to host the 2036 Olympics, the Indian team must allow participation of all teams in all types of events in the nation, and secondly, the deal between ACC and the broadcasters left them without a choice other than placing India and Pakistan in the same group.
