England test skipper Ben Stokes has hinted that his team might play with an attacking approach in the fourth Test in Manchester to counter the weather forecast. The fourth Test starts in Manchester on July 19 with the weather forecast not very good. England have other reasons to play attacking cricket as well.

England are trailing by 2-1 in the series and are playing the potential decider in Manchester. They need to win this Test match to keep the series alive. History says that England have not won an Ashes Test in Manchester for the last 42 years but Stokes pays no heed to that.

Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum changed England’s fortunes in Test cricket as they introduced the “Bazball” approach to Test cricket playing with an ultra-aggressive style. In the pre-match presser, Stokes said that going down 2-0 in the series forced them to play with an attacking approach to set up the win in the third Test in Headingley.

With rain also looking to play spoilsport, England might need to play with a faster pace in Manchester. Currently, they are 2-1 in the series and a win will help them take the series to the decider at The Oval.

We Might Have To: Ben Stokes On Playing Aggressively In Manchester

“You never want to look too much into the weather but in the position we find ourselves in, we find we might have to” Stokes was quoted by AFP.

If England win the Ashes series, they will become only the second side to win the Ashes from 2-0. Australia under Don Bradman became the first team to win an Ashes series with a 2-0 deficit in 1936/37.

When asked if this was the greatest Ashes series he is a part of Ben Stokes replied saying “If we win this one then going into the last game at 2-2, it would be hard not to say this is the best men’s Ashes series in a long time, if not the best”.

England and Australia have both announced their playing XI for the fourth Test. England have recalled James Anderson instead of Ollie Robinson. Australia have retained David Warner in the XI and have included Josh Hazlewood instead of Todd Murphy.
