England Reveal Squad For 5th Test of Ashes 2023
England named an unchanged squad for the 5th Test of Ashes 2023. Hence, all the players who played in the last game will take the field during the final encounter too. Below is England’s squad for the 5th Test of Ashes 2023.
England Squad for 5th Test of Ashes 2023: Ben Stokes (Captain), Moeen Ali, James Anderson, Jonathan Bairstow, Stuart Broad, Harry Brook, Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Dan Lawrence, Ollie Robinson, Joe Root, Josh Tongue, Chris Woakes, Mark Wood.
An unchanged England squad for the final encounter was highly expected as the home team gave a marvelous performance in the previous Test in Manchester. England outplayed Australia in both bowling and batting and could have won the game too if the rain had not interfered with the match on the final day.
England Dominated Australia In the Previous Test
England bundled out Australia for 317 in the 1st innings. Later, they posted 592 in reply to grab a 275-run lead. In the 2nd innings, Australia reached 214-5 when rain affected the match. The final day was washed away and England failed to win the match despite a stunning show in the encounter.
However, despite the same squad, there can be some changes in the playing XI for England in the Oval Test. For instance, pacer James Anderson was highly unsuccessful in the 4th Test picking just 1 wicket.
The right-arm pacer also struggled in the opening two games, getting just 3 wickets across 4 innings. Hence, England might drop the legendary pacer in the final clash. Interestingly, England dropped Anderson in the 3rd Test and it was the only game that they won.
Meanwhile, Australia need to either draw or win the 5th Test of Ashes 2023 to grab the trophy. Australia won the 1st Test by 2 wickets and the 2nd Test by 43 runs. They lost the 3rd Test by 3 wickets while the 4th Test ended in a draw.
