AUS vs ENG: England Lose No.1 ODI Ranking After Series Defeat Against Australia

England Cricket Team suffered a humiliating series defeat against Australia. Australia won the ODI Series by 3-0 under the leadership of the newly appointed skipper Pat Cummins. Australia was quite ruthless in all the 3 facets of the game as they displayed attacking tactics.
England on the other hand would be crestfallen as getting white-washed is quite embarrassing. It won’t be wrong to say that there was not ample time for the preparation of the ODI Series. The Series went underway on 17th November which was just 3 days after the final of the T20 World Cup 2022 as a lot of England players looked exhausted.
England Lose No.1 ODI Ranking
Following their ODI Series defeat against Australia, New Zealand has regained No.1 spot in ICC Rankings. New Zealand has a 114 rating to its name whereas England has a 113 rating. India & Australia are tied at 112 ratings. New Zealand would be mightily pleased as before the start of the India ODI Series, they are at the top of the rankings.
Great Triumph for Australia
The Australian Cricket Team started a new era under the leadership of Pat Cummins. He was quite spot on with captaincy as he rotated the bowlers quite smartly.
The right-arm speedster though was rested for the 2nd ODI and in his place, Josh Hazlewood was named the skipper. It was quite surprising to see Hazlewood captain the side in the presence of Marnus Labuschagne & Steven Smith.
Cricket Australia (CA) would be delighted as Travis Head amassed 240 runs in 3 matches where he scored 1 century. The combination of Warner-Head proved to be quite entertaining as Warner was seen taking the anchor role. There are chances that David Warner may get involved in a leadership role as recently he has been granted the right to appeal.
If Warner is given a second chance in leadership then it will remove pressure from Cummins. With 1 year left for ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, Australia has a couple of places up for grabs but overall the team looks like a formidable unit as the way they dismantled England was quite lethal.
