Things are going from bad to worse for England in the ongoing Ashes series. After losing the first Test and being on the back foot in the ongoing second Test, the hosts suffered another blow when their ace pacer Stuart Broad had to be sent for X-Ray scans after stumps on day 3.
The right-arm pacer coped with a brutal bouncer from Cameron Green while batting. The incident took place on the final ball of the 80th innings when Green bowled a well-directed short ball at Broad. The left-handed batter took his eyes off the ball at the last moment without moving his head out of the way of the ball and ended up copping a nasty blow.

The physio came running in and Broad managed to continue batting after passing the concussion test. After the end of the day, he was sent for X-Ray scans, and the possibility of any serious injury has been ruled out. He, however, underwent a cerebral arteriogram, a procedure in which ink is injected into the area in question to highlight any damage to blood vessels.
According to the Daily Mail, the decision was taken due to the level of swelling on the jawline. England, however, have stated that the injury is not too serious and Broad visited the hospital as a precautionary measure. The hosts expect the fast bowler to take further part in the ongoing Test at Lord’s.
Frustrating day for Stuart Broad:
Stuart Broad endured a frustrating day at the Lord’s on Friday (June 1). After copping the blow on his jaws, he did not last long with the bat and was out in the very next over after scoring 12 runs. With the ball, he went on to bowl 13 overs without any success.
He could have got the wicket of Marnus Labuschagne after trapping him in front of the wicket but failed to persuade Ben Stokes to review the leg before appealing after the umpire gave his decision in favor of the batsman.
Overall, Broad has not really managed to deliver as per expectations in the game so far. The veteran bowler has picked up just 1 wicket in the game so far when he dismissed Alex Carey in the first innings. With England firmly on the back foot, they would be hoping that their star pacer turns things around on day four.
