Australian opener David Warner achieved a historic feat as he shattered a massive record of Ricky Ponting. The southpaw became the Australian player with the most centuries in the history of World Cups as he now has 6 tons in the tournament.
David Warner achieved the feat in the ongoing match 24 of the ICC World Cup 2023 against the Netherlands. The match is taking place at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi and the Australian opener asserted his authority completely over the bowlers, such was the caliber of his innings.
David Warner looked in great touch right from the ball 1 and played some crisp shots. He continued his golden touch from the last game and blasted a sensational ton. He made sure that his side was off the flying start despite losing Mitchell Marsh early.
David Warner ended with the knock of 104 runs off 93 balls. He also smashed 11 fours and 3 sixes in his innings. His knock made sure that Australia went past 200 runs with ease. The onus will be on the power hitters to take the team to a big total. This was his second consecutive century in the tournament as he smashed a whirlwind 163-run knock against Pakistan in Bengaluru.

David Warner now has the most hundreds by an Australian player in 48-year-old World Cup history. Overall, he has the second most tons in the history of World Cups. The opening batter has 6 tons so far and is only behind Rohit Sharma, who has 7 hundreds to his name.
