AUS vs NED: Watch: David Warner Survives Comical Run-Out After Being Almost Stranded With Steve Smith At Same End

David Warner narrowly avoided a comical run-out in the ongoing game between Australia and the Netherlands at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

Australia and the Netherlands locked horns against each other in the 24th match of the ongoing ICC Men???s Cricket World Cup 2023. Pat Cummins won the toss and opted to bat first. However, David Warner and Mitchell Marsh failed to give their team a good start with the bat.

Both the players had scored centuries in the last game against Pakistan and had shared a record stand of 259 runs for the first wicket. However, Mitchell Marsh failed to replicate his performance against the Netherlands and could score only 9 runs before being dismissed by Logan van Beek. He departed after adding 28 runs with David Warner for the first wicket.

The veteran opener and Steve Smith then steadied the ship for the five-time world champions. But just when it looked like they were set, the left-handed batsman survived a run-out. He was batting on 46 at that time. On the first ball of the 17th over, he timed Colin Ackermann???s delivery towards the left of the fielder at mid-wicket and set off for a single.

His partner Smith also decided to go for the single before immediately changing his mind. The former Australia captain quickly turned back to get inside his crease. David Warner, on the other hand, was already halfway down the track when he realized Smith???s intention. In fact, he was just a couple of steps away from the non-striker???s end.

The southpaw???s innings seemed destined for an unfortunate end, but the fielder made a mess of what should have been an easy opportunity. The fielder fumbled and it allowed the Australia opener to get back inside his crease safely.
