While fans are eagerly waiting to see David Warner‘s batting in his final appearance in Test cricket, Australia captain Pat Cummins has hinted that the veteran opener might also showcase his bowling skills.

The 37-year-old will bring down curtains on his illustrious Test career after the upcoming third and final Test against Pakistan, scheduled to be played from January 3 at the Sydney Cricket Ground. The left-handed batsman will retire from Tests as one of Australia’s most decorated batsmen.

No Australian opener has scored more runs in red-ball cricket than him. In 111 Tests so far, he has scored 8695 runs with the help of 26 centuries and 36 half-centuries. He has also scored a triple century in the longest format of the game. David Warner will be looking to bow out of Tests on a high by playing a big knock. And he will also get a chance to add more to his tally of 4 wickets in Tests.

“Maybe some leg spin? Take the last wicket of the game or something, out of the rough. I only just thought of it then,” Pat Cummins said ahead of the third Test.

David Warner’s bowling record in Tests:

David Warner has hardly bowled in international cricket. While he has bowled just one over in his long white-ball career, he has delivered 57 overs in Tests and has picked up 4 wickets so far. However, he has not bowled in Tests since 2016. His last Test wicket came way back in 2012 when he dismissed South Africa great Hashim Amla.

He is the second-highest run-scorer in the ongoing series and would be looking to score big in the final Test. Earlier this week, he also announced his retirement from ODIs. However, he also stated that he could be available for next year’s Champions Trophy in Pakistan.

Meanwhile, Australia have already sealed the ongoing series against Pakistan by winning the first two Tests. They won the first game by 360 runs in Perth before winning the second one by 79 runs in Melbourne.
