David Warner, a seasoned opener for Australia, reached 17,000 runs in international cricket on Tuesday. In Australia’s second Test match versus South Africa at the historic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), the batsman reached this milestone.

Warner really entertained the audience in his 100th Test match and returned to the rhythm of his most important event. He hit 16 fours and two sixes in scoring an undefeated 200 off 254 balls with a strike rate of 78.74.

David Warner Becomes Fifth Highest Run-Scorer For Australia In International Cricket

Australia On Top After Day 2

At the completion of day two of the match, Australia had a score of 386/3. They are ahead of South Africa by 197 runs.

David Warner was undefeated at 200* but had to withdraw due to injury. At the crease, Travis Head (48*) and wicketkeeper-batter Alex Carey (9*) are both intact. Steve Smith also added a lovely 85 to the scorecard.

Earlier, South Africa, whom Australia had asked to bat first, was dismissed for 189 runs. Kyle Verreynne, a wicketkeeper-batsman, and Marco Jansen put up a 112-run stand to steady the Proteas’ innings after they were flat at 67/5.

The best bowler for the Australians was all-arounder Cameron Green, who finished with a 5/27. It’s his first five-wicket haul in a Test match. While Scott Boland and Nathan Lyon each grabbed one wicket, Mitchell Starc claimed two wickets.
