Australian Cricket Team registered a resounding victory against the mighty Proteas. Australia’s pace attack was quite ruthless where Mitchell Starc got past 300 Test Wickets. The left-arm speedster was quite disciplined in his line and length as the bowler bowled a lot of in-swingers to right-handed batters.
South Africa would be crestfallen as losing the Test Match in 2 days is quite embarrassing. The Skipper Dean Elgar would be utterly disappointed as due to this loss they are now in 3rd position in the World Test Championship (WTC 2021-23) where a percentile of 54.55.
Pat Cummins on Mitchell Starc
Pat Cummins was having an interaction with media and was asked about Mitchell Starc. “He just keeps impressing. The longevity to take 300 wickets in over 10 years, I think he just keeps going to a different level. You saw him [bowling] around the wicket, nipping the ball away — that’s a new skill for him. Absolute huge member of our team and he continues to get better and better.” Pat Cummins.
Tough Loss for South Africa
There’s no doubt that South Africa has one of the deadly attacks in World Cricket. The bowlers took 4 wickets even when they had only 34 runs to defend. South Africa would sense that another 100-150 runs would have changed the result of the match.
South Africa needs to quickly regroup as the next Test Match is on Boxing Day at the iconic MCG. It won’t be wrong to say that the departure of Head Coach Mark Boucher has disturbed the dynamics of the team. It would be interesting to see whether South Africa makes any tactical changes ahead of the 2nd Test Match.
