Australian Players Free To Leave Pakistan Tour Early To Participate In The IPL 2022 – Reports

The marquee Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 is reportedly set to begin on March 27 and it will coincide with the Australia tour of Pakistan 2022.

The 2022 edition of the IPL is all set to be a 10-team tournament as two new teams – Ahmedabad owned by CVC Capital and Lucknow Supergiants owned by RPSG Group– are set to join the cash-rich league. Also, the tournament is set to be played in India across 4 venues in Maharashtra – the Wankhede Stadium, Brabourne Stadium, DY Patil Stadium and the MCA Stadium in Gahunje, behind closed doors.

Meanwhile, the Australia tour of Pakistan 2022 will begin with a Test match in Karachi on March 3 and the third and last Test match will be played from March 21 to March 25. After that, the teams will play three ODIs, which will begin from March 29 and a sole T20I game, which will be played on April 5.

Meanwhile, the Australian players will be in Pakistan when the IPL begins and it is being reported that the players who get an IPL deal will be allowed to fly back home to Australia in between the Pakistan series before heading to India to participate in the Indian Premier League 2022.

“Absolutely it’s tough for the multi-format guys to work out that balance of where they do get time to physically replenish their energy reserves. Particularly for fast bowlers [around] when they get the time to make sure that they fit and strong and able to deal with the workload. But that’s part and parcel of the modern cricketers’ life”, said Bailey as quoted by ESPN Cricinfo.

The Australian national selector George Bailey has asserted that the Indian Premier League offers the players a huge amount both from a learning perspective and a monetary perspective.

“It continues to be a tournament that offers a huge amount for players both from a learning perspective and I don’t think the monetary side of things can be discounted. For a reasonably brief period of work the payday is pretty enormous for a certain percentage of them”, he said.

“But I do think more so than that is the opportunity to play with the best players around the world and to have access to a different range of coaches. I think that’s a terrific opportunity,” Bailey added.
