Axar Patel provides massive update on Kuldeep Yadav’s shoulder injury

Delhi Capitals captain Axar Patel has provided a major update on Kuldeep Yadav’s shoulder injury during his team’s thrilling Super Over victory over Rajasthan Royals in the 32nd game of the ongoing IPL 2025 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on Wednesday, April 16.
Kuldeep Yadav had to leave the field after hurting his shoulder during the original IPL 2025 match between Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. The Chinaman bowler sustained the injury when he dived at deep fine leg to stop a boundary.
Axar Patel shares injury update on Kuldeep Yadav after DC’s Super Over win over RR
The left-arm spinner fell on his left hand and shoulder while saving the boundary for his team. However, before walking off the field, Kuldeep had completed his four overs, conceding 33 runs and taking the important wicket of Yashasvi Jaiswal in the match against the Rajasthan Royals.
After DC’s thrilling win over RR in the Super Over, Axar Patel revealed that there was no update yet on Kuldeep Yadav’s shoulder injury. The star all-rounder mentioned that if it had been something serious, the team would likely have received information before the press conference.
Axar Patel said at the post-match press conference, “I have no update on Kuldeep yet; if something serious had happened, then we would have known by now.”

Axar Patel opens up about his role as captain and all-rounder in the Delhi Capitals
The DC skipper played a stunning cameo of 34 runs off 14 balls and then picked up one wicket in 3 overs while giving away 23 runs against the Royals, and he was happy with the way he delivered as an all-rounder in his team’s memorable win in front of the home crowd.
Axar Patel said at the post-match presentation, “This season, I had a cut during the Champions Trophy and wasn't finding it easy. You do get confidence when the team is winning. But as a captain, you do think of contributing. You try to set examples. I came in and tried to create an impact. I thought about what I could do and followed my process. I batted and bowled well today, I feel.”
Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals have once again made it to the top of the IPL 2025 points table after their remarkable win over the Rajasthan Royals, who remained at the eighth spot with only four points. On the other hand, Kuldeep is now the second-highest wicket-taker in the ongoing 2025 season.
Kuldeep Yadav among leading wicket takers in IPL 2025 as Delhi Capitals script history
The Chinaman bowler is now just behind Chennai Super Kings spinner Noor Ahmad, who tops the chart with 12 wickets from 7 games in the tournament so far. Kuldeep has 11 wickets to his name from six games so far in the ongoing IPL 2025.
Notably, Delhi Capitals have now won four out of five matches that went into a Super Over, the most by any team in IPL history.
With their memorable win over the RR, the DC moved ahead of Punjab Kings (PBKS), who had won three out of their four Super Over games in the IPL.
