Pakistan made a remarkable comeback in the ongoing three-match Test series after suffering a humiliating defeat against England in the second Test at Multan Cricket Stadium in Multan.

The Shan Masood-led team came into the ongoing Test series against England following their whitewash at the hands of Bangladesh at home.

After suffering an innings and 47-run defeat in the first Test against England, the hosts made some bold calls, and it paid off handsomely at the Multan Cricket Stadium.

The hosts dropped their biggest superstars like Babar Azam, Naseem Shah, and Shaheen Afridi for the remaining two Tests against England and also opted for the same surface that was used for the first Test in Multan.

Well, the hosts have finally put an end to their agonizing 11-match winless streak at home, as they crushed England by 152 runs in the second Test to level the ongoing three-match Test series 1-1 in sensational style at the Multan Cricket Stadium on Friday (October 18).

The hosts opt for an all-spin attack

In a bold move, the hosts opted for a spin-heavy attack, and it paid off spectacularly as the dynamic duo of Noman Ali and Sajid Khan were unstoppable, tearing through England’s batting line-up with a combined 20 wickets in Multan.

Noman Ali led the charge with an incredible 11 scalps, while Sajid Khan contributed with 9 wickets in a memorable comeback in Tests.

Meanwhile, Sajid Khan and Noman Ali made history for the Men in Green as two spinners each claimed a five-wicket haul in the same match for the first time since 1987. This marked the seventh time overall that two Pak spinners have achieved this feat in a single game.

After winning Player of the Match award, Sajid Khan said: “We lost the last two series, we just backed our process. Thanks to the Multan crowd for all the support. Noman is one of the most experienced players, he shares his experienced and he's played everywhere. First innings, I got out early and he scored. In the second innings, I batted below him and gave support to Salman.”

Speaking about the second Test match, Pakistan had won the toss and decided to bat first, as they trusted on the game plane, riding on the heavy spin attack against England. The hosts posted 366 runs on the board in their first inning, thanks to Kamran Ghulam’s stunning ton and Saim Ayub’s brilliant fifty.

For England, Jack Leach (4/114) and Brydon Carse (3/50) shone with the ball. Well, the Pakistani spinners wreaked havoc on England’s batting line-up by making the most of spinning conditions in Multan, with Sajid Khan and Noman Ali taking 10 wickets together to restrict England to 291 runs in the first innings. Ben Duckett had smashed a century in the first inning.

Salman Ali Agha and Kamran Ghulam shine with the bat against England

Later, Pakistan’s batters yet again failed to deliver, as Salman Ali Agha (63) was the only batter to show courage against England’s Bazball to take the hosts to 221 runs in the second Test. Defending 297 runs, Noman Ali surprised the English stars by returning with the remarkable figures of 8/46 in just 16.3 overs to ensure Pakistan’s comeback victory in Multan.

Sajid also scalped two wickets to take his tally to nine to win the Player of the Match award.
