Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Extends Fast Bowling Coach Allan Donald's Contract Till 2023 ODI World Cup

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) extended the contract of fast bowling coach Allan Donald, and he will continue with the team till the upcoming ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023, which will be held in India in October and November.

Donald was appointed as the bowling coach till the end of the T20 World Cup in March last year. Despite a disappointing campaign, the board backed the coaching staff, and the South African pacer’s contract was extended until the home series against India.

BCB’s cricket operation chairman Jalal Yunus confirmed Donald’s contract with Cricbuzz on Friday, February 3.

“Donald’s contract is extended till the World Cup,” Jalal Yunus, BCB’s cricket operation chairman, told Cricbuzz.

According to the reports, the legendary South African speed bowler is expected to be in Dhaka by February 22 ahead of the series against England, which will include three ODIs and three T20Is and start on March 1.

Chandika Hathurusingha, the newly appointed head coach of Bangladesh, is to join the squad. He served as Bangladesh’s head coach from 2014 to 2017. During his tenure, the side won the ODI series at home against top teams, including series victories over South Africa, Pakistan, and India.

Ireland Likely To Host A Series Against Bangladesh

According to a BCB official, Ireland will host Bangladesh in England for the final Super League series in May. Cricket Ireland is understood to be keen to play the series in England rather than Ireland to avoid the risk of rain at that time. According to the reports, the series could be played in Chelmsford.

“Though Ireland have not confirmed [this to] us officially but they have informed that they are trying to host the series in England,” said a BCB official.
