Former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali has slammed the India national cricket team for refusing to take the trophy from the ACC President Mohsin Naqvi after their Asia Cup triumph. Ali has voiced support for Naqvi, who is also the Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board.

The India vs Pakistan controversies were not only prominent during the Asia Cup 2025, but also several cricketers were found mocking others and prompting actions that were derogatory to the spirit of the game. Even BCCI's disagreement with Mohsin Naqvi has taken all by surprise.

"They are the No. 1-ranked team, but their actions are third-rate" - Basit Ali slams the Indian team

“They are the No. 1-ranked team, but their actions are third-rate. Mohsin Naqvi will present the trophy; if they refuse to accept, they would be disgraced in the eyes of the world," Basit Ali said while speaking on ARY News.

The ceremony, as a result of this, was delayed by more than an hour, and the Indian team didn't receive the trophy as Mohsin Naqvi walked out of the stadium with the trophy. However, unbothered by these incidents, the Indian side continued with the victory celebrations.

Pakistan would have been wrong had they refused to take the trophy from ICC's Jay Shah - Basit Ali

As per reports, when Naqvi waited on the podium to present the trophy, Indian cricketers stood far away, refusing to move forward if Naqvi presented the trophy.

Basit Ali added that the Indian team are No.1 side by showing stubbornness and not accepting the trophy from Naqvi was a wrong call.

“You’re the No.1 team, you played well and won, but what is this stubbornness? Mohsin Naqvi is the head of the Asian Cricket Council. Suppose it had been an ICC event and Pakistan refused to accept the trophy from Jay Shah, Pakistan would have been wrong there," Ali added.

Indian bowlers dominate West Indies in the First Test

Indian players are currently hosting the West Indies side for a two-match red-ball series, which started on the 2nd of October. The series starts at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, on possibly one of the greenest tracks in India.

The Indian pacers were seemingly unstoppable on the very first day of the Test series. Returning spinner Kuldeep Yadav picked two wickets, while Washington Sundar also provided a crucial breakthrough.

However, Mohammed Siraj bagged with a stunning 4-wicket haul, as he rattled the top order of the West Indies team. Jasprit Bumrah, with his 3 wickets, became the fastest to 50 Test wickets for India. The Windies were bowled out for just 162 runs.
