India got all out for just 150 runs in the first innings and it seemed that Australia would take complete control of the game. But it wasn't the case as Indian bowlers were all over Pat Cummins & Co. and bundled them out for just 104 runs, taking a lead of 46 runs.

After that, Cummins and his team struggled to get going with the ball as well. India piled up a massive total of 489 runs, setting a massive target of 534 runs for the hosts to chase. But they couldn't, as they got all out for 228 runs and went on to lose the game by a huge margin of 295 runs.

After Australia struggled to get going in the first Test, fast bowler Josh Hazlewood was asked about Australia's approach in the opening Test. He, however, made an interesting claim, saying that questions should be asked to the batters of the team.

However, skipper Pat Cummins cleared all the rumors, saying that they always look after each other. While calling the team a great bunch, he claimed that they are still the No.1 ranked team and that loss in the first Test against India doesn't change anything. He added:

"We look after each other. There’s plenty of games where the batters drag us out of sticky situations and likewise, we do the opposite. So yeah, it’s such a great bunch. We get on really well. We challenge each other. We will stick firm; I think we are still the no.1 ranked side in the world, so this week doesn’t change that."
