BBL 2023-24: Watch - Laurie Evans Goes Berserk Against Hayden Kerr, Smashes 28 Runs In One Over
The Big Bash League (BBL) clash between Perth Scorchers and Sydney Sixers holds the prize of finishing in second place and both teams are giving their all to win the match. However, after a tedious start, Perth Scorchers up their game with Laurie Evans taking the bowlers by storm. He smashed Hayden Kerr for 28 runs in one over hitting all six balls for a boundary and completed one of the most magnificent BBL half-centuries.
Laurie Evans completed his half-century in just 22 balls in the BBL clash against Sydney Sixers. He completely thrashed Hayden Kerr in the 13th over hitting him for 28 runs which included four boundaries and two maximums to end the over. The Sydney Sixers were going good at the start, not allowing Scorchers to score but after the arrival of Laurie Evans to the crease, the momentum shifted towards the defending champions and he played a ferocious knock scoring 72 off just 34 deliveries.
Laurie Evans smashed 11 fours and three sixes in what could be called as one of the most magnificent half-centuries in BBL history. He took Hayden Kerr to the cleaners and smashed him all over the park in the thirteenth over. Hayden Kerr gave only three runs in his first over but the second one was brutal as he went for 28 runs in the over.

The over went like 4,6,6,4,4,4 and he completed his half-century with the last boundary of the over. He was batting on 24(16) before the start of the over and ended on 52(22) after the end of the over.

The Perth Scorchers finished their innings on 197/4 with the help of Cooper Connolly’s 37(18) and Laurie Evans’ 72(34). Skipper Aaron Hardie also scored 32(24) and now Sydney Sixers need to chase down 198 in 20 overs to finish in second place. The second position team will get two opportunities to reach the final as they will face the table toppers Brisbane Heat in the Qualifiers. If they lose the Qualifier they will get another opportunity in the Challenger round to qualify for the final.
Meanwhile, the third-positioned team will play the Knockout against Adelaide Strikers (4th on the table). The winner of the knockout will face the loser of the Qualifier in the Challenger round and the winner of the Challenger will play in the finals against the winner of the Qualifier. Sydney Sixers has a huge task upfront chasing 198 against the defending champions Perth Scorchers.
Laurie Evans has done his job and on the back of his innings, Perth Scorchers have given a huge target to the Sydney Sixers. Now it is up to the bowlers to do their job. Perth Scorchers have a strong bowling line-up with the likes of Jason Behrendorff, Andrew Tye, Lance Morris, and Ashton Agar.
