Captain of the Baroda cricket team, Krunal Pandya is under the scanner after teammate Deepak Hooda alleged him of using “abusive language” and for “dadagiri (bullying)” during the practice camp. Hooda stormed out from Baroda’s preparatory camp for the 2021 edition of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT).

The Baroda Cricket Association (BCA) has demanded a report at the earliest from the manager of the team.

The Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy is the premier T20 domestic tournament in India and has started on Sunday (January 10) in 6 different cities – Alur, Kolkata, Chennai, Vadodara, Mumbai, and Indore – with the knockouts, including the final, to take place in the newly built 110-000 seater Sardar Patel Stadium in Ahmedabad.

I am depressed and under pressure: Deepak Hooda

Baroda will take on Uttarakhand to kickstart their SMAT campaign. However, the Krunal Pandya led side will be without their vice-captain, Deepak Hooda after his spat with the skipper.

After fumingly leaving the net session, the Kings XI Punjab batsman has withdrawn his name from the Baroda team for the SMAT. A senior BCA official also informed that Hooda has checked out of the team hotel.

Hooda, who has represented Baroda in 46 first-class and 123 T20 games, has sent a mail to the BCA detailing his altercation with the Mumbai Indians all-rounder. The right-handed batsman doesn’t isn’t comfortable in the environment and hence doesn’t feel he could perform to the best of his abilities. The 25-year-old feels mental pressure after his quarrel and has reported Krunal Pandya’s misbehaviour to the BCA.

“At this moment, I am demoralised, depressed and under pressure. As from last some days, my team captain Mr Krunal Pandya is using abusing language to me in front of my teammates and also other state teams who have come for participation at Reliance Stadium Vadodara,” Hooda wrote in the letter to BCA, a copy of which is in possession of PTI.

“Today I was practising in nets and doing my preparation for tomorrow’s game with the permission of head coach Mr Prabhakar. Then Krunal came in nets (and) started misbehaving with me,” alleged Hooda.
