The India National Cricket Team has finally received some good news on the fitness front after suffering a humiliating defeat against South Africa in Guwahati. Indian captain Shubman Gill is recovering quicker than expected after missing the second Test against South Africa.

Shubman Gill suffered a neck injury during the first Test against South Africa, and he missed the rest of the game at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata before missing the second Test, where the Indian team faced a 408-run defeat in Guwahati.

As reported by a Revsportz journalist, Rohit Juglan, Shubman Gill is all but confirmed to be fully fit for the upcoming T20I series against South Africa. He also revealed that Gill is not at the BCCI’s National Centre of Excellence at the moment, but he is recovering really well.

The Punjab lad has been recovering really quickly, and there is nothing worrying about his condition right now. As of now, everything looks on track for the T20I series against South Africa, and there are no red flags regarding his availability.

However, the Indian selectors will get the clearer picture once Shubman Gill reaches the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence and officially starts his rehab and recovery program.

Hardik Pandya just two days away from full return

There’s another positive update as well. India’s star all-rounder Hardik Pandya is just two days away from completing his training and rehab at the BCCI Centre of Excellence. Following his rehab, Pandya is likely to play for Baroda in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025.

Hardik Pandya has been out of action since suffering a quadriceps injury in the Asia Cup 2025. Due to his recovery, the Indian all-rounder missed the recent Australia tour and then the upcoming ODI series against the Proteas side.

The journalist further revealed that Hardik will make his much-awaited comeback with the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025 after completing his rehab at the BCCI Centre of Excellence. With the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 coming up at home in February–March, Hardik will now focus only on the shortest format.

Hardik Pandya's presence always provides a big boost: Baroda coach

This makes the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025 extremely important for the Indian all-rounder, as these matches will help him regain match fitness, find his rhythm, and prepare for the upcoming five-match T20I series against South Africa, beginning on December 9.

Baroda will play seven group matches lined up until December 8, and the team expects Hardik to take part in most of those games, even though he hasn’t joined the squad yet. His arrival is always a big boost for the Baroda side, and the camp is looking forward to having him back.

Coach Mukund Parmar was quoted as saying by PTI: “He has not yet joined the squad, but we expect him to play the majority of the games. His presence always provides a big boost.”
