BCCI makes massive change to IPL 2026 schedule; GT-CSK matches swapped
PC: X

For some reason, the BCCI has made changes to the original schedule of the IPL 2026 season, as per which the venues for the CSK vs GT matches in this season have been swapped. The board has made a massive change in the revised schedule.

The IPL schedule announcement faced many issues before the start of the IPL. The BCCI hence decided to start with the announcement of just the schedule of the first 20 matches, while Devajit Saikia had mentioned that the remaining schedule would be announced after the announcement of the election dates across many states in India.

After the state elections for several states were declared, the BCCI considered those games, and the schedule was announced accordingly. However, once again, changes have been made to the original schedule due to political intervention.

Venues for GT-CSK matches swapped in IPL 2026

The BCCI have made a massive change to the original schedule of the TATA IPL in 2026, and this revised schedule have led to a swap in venues. This change is not due to the swap in the schedule but due to the municipal elections, which will be held in Ahmedabad and several other parts of the city on the 26th of April.

The first match that was scheduled between the Gujarat Titans and the Chennai Super Kings on the 26th of April at the Narendra Modi Stadium has been shifted to be played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium and is scheduled to start at 3:30 PM IST.

The next game that was scheduled to be played between these two franchises at the MA Chidambaram Stadium was on the 21st of May in 2026. However, this will be shifted to Narendra Modi Stadium and will be played during the evening at 7:30 PM.

Gujarat Titans went past LSG in the IPL Points Table

The Gujarat Titans are one of the most successful franchises in recent times after having made their debut in the IPL 2022. They are one of the first teams to have won the IPL in their debut season, under Hardik Pandya's captaincy.

Since their debut, they have managed to qualify for three IPL playoffs, while also qualifying for the finals twice in 2022 and 2023. The Titans started off this season with two consecutive losses after they were knocked out of the Eliminator of the competition.

The Titans struggled in their initial games but then bounced back with Jos Buttler hitting good form alongside the skipper's Shubman Gill's consecutive half-centuries. GT have now advanced to the 5th spot, with two wins and four points.

CSK opens tally with first victory in IPL 2026

Chennai Super Kings need no introduction as a franchise. The most successful franchise has managed to win five IPL titles while also qualifying for twelve playoffs in the history of the IPL. The Super Kings have, however, failed to make it to the playoffs in the last two seasons under Gaikwad's captaincy.

Under Gaikwad's captaincy, they made an unconvincing start to the season, with a hat-trick of losses, before finally bouncing back in a tough game against the Delhi Capitals. Sanju Samson played the hero with a terrific century.

Following the win, CSK moved to the 9th spot on the points table after they opened their tally of points. They would look to fancy their chances in the upcoming few games.
