While the Indian team is currently engaged in a mouth-watering Test series against England, there’s not much time left before the limited-overs series begins. The BCCI, which announced a 19-man squad for the five T20Is on Sunday, requested the white-ball cricketers to assemble and report in Ahmedabad by the 1st of March. India and England will play five T20Is in Ahmedabad, starting from the 13th of March.

BCCI’s 19-man squad for the shortest format had some new faces as Rahul Tewatia, Suryakumar Yadav, and Ishan Kishan were rewarded for their compelling performances in IPL 2020. On the other hand, Rishabh Pant also returned to the side after shining in the red-ball cricket for India, while the selectors also decided to include Varun Chakravarthy. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma would be the captains and vice-captains.

A senior DDCA official revealed that opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan has to report to Ahmedabad alongside the other selected players by the 1st of March. They demand that all the limited-overs players play a couple of matches to stay in touch before entering another bio-secure bubble with all the COVID-19 protocols in place.

“Shikhar is supposed to report in Ahmedabad along with others on March 1. As far as we know, all the white ball specialists have been asked to play 2 to 3 games to be in touch as they will again enter a new bubble with all the COVID-19 protocols in place,” the official told PTI.

Four-match Test series between England and India tied at 1-1:

The first T20 international will commence on the 12th of March and will continue till the 20th, followed by the ODIs, beginning from the 23rd in Pune. The four-match Test series currently stands at 1-1 scoreline after the hosts bounced back to beat England in the second Test by 317 runs. The Englishmen confined the men in blue to their first Test defeat at home in about four years, gunning them down by 227 runs. The third Test will start from Wednesday in Ahmedabad, which is a day-night affair.
