Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are the teams qualified for the play-offs. But still, none of the teams had shown any intention to sacrifice their hard-earned momentum.

Pat Cummins' side climbed on the run mountain through their collective batting effort in the first inning at their home ground. RCB, batting second, started their innings on a good note through Venkatesh Iyer, who came as an opener tonight, in place of the injured Jacob Bethell.

SRH dominated mostly vs RCB

RCB tried, but the bowling line-up of the SRH was, too, good as their batting. From the beginning of the inning, the SRH batters might have vowed to vandalize the entire bowling lineup.

Bengaluru’s top bowler in IPL 2026, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, had a rare bad day, conceding 51 runs in 4 overs without taking any wickets. Josh Hazewood turned out to be the most expensive bowler for them with an economy rate of 55 runs in 4 overs. Rasikh Salam, who claimed a brace, also conceded an economy rate of 13.00, which hints at how much the Pat Cummins team dominated the first innings.

Ishan Kishan and other Sunrisers batters were brilliant

Ishan Kishan scored 79 off 46, Abhishek Sharma scored 56 off 22, and Heinrich Klaasen scored 51 off 24, among the top run-scores for the Sunrisers at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad. In total, Hyderabad scored 255 runs for the loss of only 4 wickets. The total of 255 proved more than enough to defeat RCB tonight.

To chase a massive target of over two hundred and fifty, RCB needed to bat with sheer intention. Apart from Venkatesh Iyer’s explosive 44 runs from 19 balls, none of the Bengaluru batters were able to match the required aggression during the chase. Krunal Pandya and captain Rajat Patidar created a long-standing partnership in the middle, but that was not enough to compete with the Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Eshan Malinga, with 2 wickets against 33 runs in 4 overs, was the most effective bowler against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru. RCB, in 20 overs, managed to score 200 runs for 4, and Pat Cummins' side won by a massive margin of 55 runs.

Pat Cummins praised both the batter and the bowlers

In the presentation ceremony, Pat Cummins, the captain of Sunrisers, praised his batters and bowlers. The Aussie pacer claimed that the way Eshan Malinga and Sakib Hussain bowled tonight was a pleasure to watch as the skipper of the team.

Pat Cummins stated, "It was pretty impressive to get the score that we did. I thought the boys batted fantastically and it's a good bowling performance. So everyone's hitting their straps. A pretty good wicket, we knew a lot of things had to go our way. Yeah, it got close. Yeah, I think they were trying make sure they got up to that score.

"So we threw a few different things at them, but it's still a big win. So, good. (On the bowling unit) They've been fantastic. I've actually learned a lot off those guys as well. The way Eshan has bowled all season, particularly in that powerplay. He's been the form bowler of the comp, kind of with his slow balls and his mixing up different things. And of course, Sakib there as well."

"So captain's dream. (On playing the next game in New Chandigarh) It's still 5-6 days away. So yeah, we'll rest up for a couple of days, head up there. And yeah, the guys know the ground pretty well. So get up there. I think we'll know who we're playing in the next day or two." Pat Cummins said after the match.
