Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal is almost on the verge of making his ODI comeback against South Africa, but he has been disappointed with his form in Tests. Be it in South Africa or in India, he has been disappointing with his Test batting performance.

South Africa have dominated the Indian team with both bat and ball. Though the Indian team comprised four and three spinners across both matches in the series, they were not as effective as the South African spinners, who would not let the Indian batters settle.

Simon Harmer has been South Africa's best man on show, and coming into the second Test in Guwahati, Marco Jansen has taken things under his control. The 6.8 ft bowler took the ground to his advantage as he used the bounce effectively.

Yashasvi Jaiswal was dismissed cheaply in a record chase for India

Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal continued his flop show against South Africa, as he was dismissed cheaply on another occasion. The Indian batters have struggled throughout the series, and especially the opening pair have failed to give a promising start.

Jaiswal, who flaunts a stunning record against any team, does not have the finest of records against the Proteas. Yashasvi Jaiswal first played against South Africa in South Africa, and in those two Tests, he amassed scores of 17, 5, 0, and 28.

Continuing his poor form this time around as well, his only decent innings came in the previous game, where he amassed 58 runs. In this innings as well, Yashasvi Jaiswal has been dismissed for just 13 runs off 20 balls, with a four and a six.

He once again tried to force a short ball through the covers but could not reach on top of the delivery, and the ball was edged back to the wicket-keeper for an easy catch.

India on the brink of another home series defeat

The final session was already underway when Ravindra Jadeja dismissed Tristan Stubbs, and South Africa declared the innings with a lead of 548. The target set was of 549 runs. Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul then came in to chase the target.

Both the openers were sent back in no time, as Marco Jansen and Simon Harmer both picked a wicket each. Kuldeep Yadav had to be sent in to bat at no. 4, as India needed a nightwatchman.

India, losing two early wickets, would still have to bat throughout an entire day tomorrow to avoid losing the game. India does not have many chances to win this game, but they can avoid a clean sweep in the series with a draw in this match. However, that doesn't seem very likely as of now.
