The International Cricket Council has on Friday, August 22, announced the changes in the venues for the upcoming ICC Women’s World Cup 2025.

Navi Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium replaced Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium for the upcoming mega event.

Since the iconic M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru is not available, DY Patil Stadium will host five games of the upcoming ICC Women’s World Cup 2025, including three league games, one semi-final, and possibly the final on 2 November.

The other venues remain unchanged, with matches also set to be played in Guwahati, Indore, Visakhapatnam, and Colombo. Additionally, the dates of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 will also remain unchanged, with the tournament being held from September 30 to November 2.

Jay Shah hails Navi Mumbai as new hub of women’s cricket

Speaking on the changes, ICC Chairman Jay Shah stated: “Navi Mumbai has emerged as a genuine home for women’s cricket in recent years. The support it has received during international fixtures and the Women’s Premier League has been remarkable, creating an atmosphere that elevates the players and inspires fans.”

Shah further added, “I am certain that the same energy will define the big matches of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup as it returns to India after 12 years. We stand at a pivotal moment in the journey of the women’s game. This World Cup has the potential to be remembered as one of those defining milestones that shaped the sport’s future, not only in India but across the cricketing world.

While unforeseen circumstances required us to adjust the schedule and replace a venue, we are pleased to now have a line-up of five world-class venues that will showcase the very best of the women’s game. The stage is set, and I am confident this tournament will capture imaginations and inspire a new generation of fans.”

ICC reveals Women’s World Cup 2025 knockout plans

Meanwhile, the governing body has also revealed the knockout plans for the upcoming ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 in India and Sri Lanka. The grand finale is scheduled for November 2, and it will be hosted in either Colombo or Navi Mumbai, depending on Pakistan’s qualification.

The first semi-final will be played on October 29 in Guwahati or Colombo, while the second semi-final is set for October 30 in Navi Mumbai. If Pakistan qualifies, they will play the first semi-final in Colombo, and should they storm into the final, then the title clash will also move to the Sri Lankan capital. The ICC has also confirmed that all of Pakistan’s matches will be held in Sri Lanka.

On the other hand, if India and Pakistan qualify for the semifinal and fate sets the blockbuster clash, then it will take place as the first semifinal in Colombo. However, if Pakistan fails to reach the knockouts of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025, then all the high-voltage knockout matches, including the final, will shift to India.

Notably, India and Pakistan have decided to avoid travelling to each other’s country due to cross-border and diplomatic tension. Hence, the Pakistan women will play all their matches of the 2025 World Cup 2025 in Sri Lanka.
