Beth Mooney Reaches The Top Spot In ICC ODI Rankings

The International Cricket Council (ICC) released the latest women’s rankings on Tuesday, July 18. Australia batter Beth Mooney surpassed Sri Lankan batter Chamari Athapaththu to reclaim the top spot in the women’s ODI batter rankings.

Athapaththu’s stint at the top of the ODI batters rankings lasted only two weeks as she slipped to third place with 758 rating points. Meanwhile, Beth Mooney’s consistent performances in the first two ODIs against England helped her climb to the top spot.

Nat Sciver-Brunt Reached The Second Spot After Beth Mooney

Beth Mooney scored 81 and 33 runs in the first two matches against England, helping the team regain the Women’s Ashes series. England’s Nat Sciver-Brunt, who scored an unbeaten 11 runs off 99 balls, clinched the second spot in the women’s batter rankings.

Sciver has not only been impressive with the bat but also handy with the ball, taking two wickets in England’s victory in the first ODI in Bristol. Her outstanding contributions with both bat and ball helped her reach the top of the all-rounders’ rankings in ODI cricket.

Ash Gardner Achieved Career-Best Rankings

England captain Heather Knight moved up four places to reach No. 14 in the batters’ rankings. Knight played a crucial unbeaten knock of 75 runs in the first match while chasing a target of 264 runs. She is sharing the position with New Zealand’s Sophie Devine.

Australia’s star all-rounder Ash Gardner impressed both with the bat and ball in the ODI series. She scored 54 runs and picked up three wickets in each of the first two ODIs. Gardner has achieved career-best rankings on both the bowlers’ (8) and all-rounders’ (5) lists.

Nigar Sultana Climbed To No. 31 In The ODI Batters

Bangladesh skipper Nigar Sultana climbed to No. 31 in the ODI batters’ rankings after scoring 39 runs against India. Sultana Khatun rose 25 places to No. 78 in the bowlers’ rankings, while Marufa Akter’s performance of 4/29 earned her a spot in the top 100 rankings.

Athapaththu climbed to the ninth position in the T20I batters’ rankings, scoring an unbeaten 80 runs against New Zealand. Harshitha Madavi, who shared a record-breaking unbeaten partnership of 143 runs with Athapaththu, rose five spots to No. 22 in the rankings.
