"Bhai Rohit Sharma ka chela hai Surya" - Former India cricketer compares Suryakumar Yadav's captaincy with Rohit Sharma
Former cricketer Mohammad Kaif was full of praises for India's T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav after the team's thrilling win over Sri Lanka in the third T20I of the three-match series in Pallekele. With this win, India completed a 3-0 clean sweep of the home team.
At 110-1, India looked out of the game as Sri Lanka were cruising to their first win of the series. But a third consecutive batting collapse from Sri Lanka meant that they lost 7 wickets for just 22 runs.
With 9 runs needed off the last two overs, Sri Lanka were hot favorites. Surprisingly, Suryakumar Yadav gave the ball to Rinku Singh, who returned with just three runs from the over and also picked up two big wickets of Kusal Perera and Ramesh Mendis.
With 6 needed off 6 balls, Suryakumar took it upon himself to bowl the final over instead of giving the ball to the more accomplished Mohammed Siraj. The India captain bowled to the fields and picked up 2-5 in his solitary over to take the game to the Super Over.

Mohammad Kaif compares Suryakumar Yadav's captaincy with Rohit Sharma
After the match, Mohammad Kaif hailed Suryakumar Yadav's leadership and compared his captaincy to Rohit Sharma. Kaif also called Suryakumar as the disciple of Rohit Sharma.
"Bhai Rohit Sharma ka chela hai Surya.. 19th over Rinku se, 20th over khud SKY and won the game (Suryakumar Yadav is Rohit Sharma's disciple. 19th over to Rinku and 20th over himself). What else one needs to be a great leader?" Kaif posted on X (formerly Twitter).

The match went on to the Super Over where Suryakumar Yadav sprung another surprise by giving the Super Over to offspinner Washington Sundar. It turned out to be a masterstroke as Sundar picked up two wickets off consecutive balls and dismissed Kusal Perera and Pathum Nissanka.

The 24-year-old bowled according to his fields as the batters tried to hit big but got out, leaving India with just 3 runs to win the match. Suryakumar Yadav took the strike for the Super Over and he swept the first ball of Maheesh Theekshana for a four as the fielder at short fine leg put in a poor effort and let it through.
