India captain Rohit Sharma decided to change his profile picture on X after leading the team to glory in the recently-concluded ICC T20 World Cup 2024. The Men in Blue beat South Africa by 7 runs in the final to win the ninth edition of the T20 World Cup.

The Rohit Sharma-led side did not lose a single game in the competition. In the group stage, India beat Ireland, Pakistan, and the USA before beating Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Australia in the Super 8s. In the semifinal, India thrashed defending champions England by 68 runs before beating South Africa to win the T20 World Cup after a gap of 17 years.

To celebrate the special victory, Rohit Sharma has decided to change his profile profile on X. His new profile picture is the iconic photo that was clicked in Barbados after India's win over South Africa. In the photo, Rohit could be seen installing the Indian flag on the ground of Kensington Oval. In no time, the photo garnered more than 1 lakh likes.

Meanwhile, Rohit also lost his verification badge on X after changing his profile picture. When Twitter Blue was relaunched in 2022, the company had announced that the subscribers would be temporarily losing the verification badge after changing their handle, display name, or profile photo. The badge will be restored after the company completes the review of the account.

Rohit Sharma eyes Champions Trophy and WTC trophy:

After leading India to the T20 World Cup trophy this year, Rohit Sharma will be eyeing the Champions Trophy and the World Test Championship (WTC) trophy next year. BCCI secretary Jay Shah recently confirmed that Rohit will be in charge of the Indian team for both tournaments next year.

"Our next target is WTC Final and Champions Trophy. I am confident that under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy, we will win both the tournaments," said Shah.

India have not won the Champions Trophy since 2013. In the last edition of the competition, they had qualified for the final under the captaincy of Virat Kohli but ended up losing the title decider against Pakistan.

In the WTC, India qualified for the final of both cycles so far but ended up losing both games. In 2021, they lost the final against New Zealand under Kohli's captaincy before losing against Australia under Rohit Sharma's captaincy last year.
