Kohli's retirement from the Test almost made everyone ask "why", as he still had at least three more years left in him. However, it is learned, as per the reports in the Indian Express, that the desire to spend more time with the family was the reason behind his retirement.
The reports claimed that Virat Kohli conveyed the same to chief selector Ajit Agarkar and a powerful administrator running Indian cricket in the first week of April. The BCCI, however, wasn't amazed at the decision, especially with the England series around the corner, and asked the batter to rethink his decision, but he stood firm on his stance.
Notably, Kohli was reportedly unhappy with the Family Diktat of BCCI, but the governing body was in no mood to make any changes to it, hence, Kohli decided to walk away from Test cricket.
