Former Pakistan cricketer Salman Butt lavished praise on Pakistan’s batter, Azam Khan, and compared him to the likes of Indian 23-year-old talented wicket-keeper batter, Rishabh Pant.
Azam has been in good form in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), scoring 256 runs in 10 matches at a good strike rate of 141.43. Butt asserted that both are explosive batters who can take the game away from the opposition in a matter of overs.
“Both are big hitters. Pant has a big range but Azam Khan can hit longer. Azam has amazing strength and power. He just needs to put some muscle on, get into shape. But again, he hits the ball hard and can send the ball to long-distance.”
“Both are very talented. Rishabh Pant has hit hundreds in Test matches as well, so he’s definitely more experienced and has played more. Azam is yet to make a mark at the international level,” Butt stated.
Salman Butt highlights Harshal Patel’s strength in pace bowling
Harshal Patel has also been in tremendous form, continuing where he left off in the IPL 2021 season. He won the Purple Cap with 32 wickets to his name and went on to make his debut for Team India against New Zealand. Talking about the 30-year-old, Butt said:
“Harshal Patel’s change of pace is brilliant. If he carries this on, his future is good. He will continue to play in IPL if he performs like this. He’s already playing for India.”
“He is somebody who relies on his variations, he has a very good slower ball. His arm speed doesn’t change when he delivers the slower ball and I think that’s his strength. So in white-ball cricket, his future is decent.”
India will take on Sri Lanka in the second T20I on Saturday.
