Durban's Super Giants (DSG) on Monday (22nd July) made their batting lineup strong for the SA20 2025. The sister franchise of Lucknow Super Giants roped in West Indies opening batter Brandon King for the 2025 edition of the tournament.

Brandon King, who has been a veteran in T20 cricket, will be adding a vast amount of experience to the Durban's Super Giants batting lineup. The right-hander has played 142 games in the shortest format of the game. This also includes 55 T20 Internationals for the West Indies.

Brandon King was one of the key assets for the West Indies National Cricket Team in the recently concluded T20 World Cup 2024. The opening batter played the first few games of the tournament and made sure that he took the team off to a flying start with the bat in the matches he played in the tournament, which took place in the Caribbean and the USA.

Brandon King, however, couldn't play the entire tournament as he got ruled out of the tournament due to a side strain. The opening batter faced the injury in the Super Eight match against England in St Lucia and then was ruled out of the tournament with Kyle Myers being his replacement.

Brandon King since the last 12 months has been in the prolific touch in the shortest format of the game. He was also named in the Caribbean Premier League Team of Tournament 2023. He mustered 288 runs for the now-defunct Jamaica Tallawahs in the tournament, helping his team get off to a flying start.

Brandon King also has been in the sensational touch in international cricket. In the build-up to the T20 World Cup 2024, in the series against South Africa, the opening batter slammed 179 runs at an average of 53.0 during the three-match series, ending the series as the leading run-getter.

Brandon King has been a terrific batter in the T20 format. The opening batter has slammed 3349 T20 runs at an average of 27.51 and a strike rate of 133.31. Apart from this, the right-hander also has slammed two centuries and 21 half-centuries in his career.

With the inclusion of Brandon King, Durban's Super Giants would be high on confidence going into the SA20 2025. They ended the 2024 edition of the tournament as the runners-up and with the addition of King, they would be hoping to go one step further and win the tournament.

Brandon King becomes the 6th player from West Indies to play for Durban's Super Giants

With the inclusion of Brandon King in the team, Brandon King becomes the 6th player from West Indies to play for the franchise. He joined the likes of Johnson Charles, Kyle Mayers, Jason Holder, Keemo Paul, and Nicholas Pooran, who played for the team in the last two seasons.

Johnson Charles and Kyle Mayers along with all-rounders Jason Holder and Keemo Paul were part of the Durban's Super Giants in season 1. While Myers and Paul played in the second season, Holder and Charles were part of the other teams. They also got bolstered by the inclusion of Nicholas Pooran, who was added as a Wildcard entry for season 2.
