Ravichandran Ashwin’s wife Prithi Narayanan shared serious news on Twitter that her entire family had contracted the deadly COVID-19 virus and had tested positive for it. She also explained that the children in the family were the carriers of the virus and transmitted the virus to the adults.

This comes as concerning news given that India is battling a huge surge in COVID-19 cases since the last fortnight as it has recorded more than 2,50,000 cases for the last 9-10 days straight and even the fatality rate has increased, while the positivity rate skyrocketed. This has left the healthcare system overburdened and short of medical supplies, especially oxygen for patients and life-saving injections for the ones battling the virus.

Ravi Ashwin had previously opted out of the ongoing IPL 2021 tournament citing his need to be with his family in their fight against the ongoing second wave of the pandemic. He played five games for this Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise and picked one wicket in the tournament. He has said that if things get better, he might return and join the team back.

“I would be taking a break from this years IPL from tomorrow. My family and extended family are putting up a fight against #COVID19 and I want to support them during these tough times. I expect to return to play if things go in the right direction. Thank you @DelhiCapitals,” Ashwin had tweeted.

She further urged everyone to take the vaccine as soon as they become eligible for the same to give their families the best chance to fight this.

She also revealed that she battled mental health issues while fighting the virus. She was worried about being alone in isolation despite people offering help, but no one could come near to her. She mentioned that mental health will take time to heal, but physical health will get better quicker.

“I guess physical health will recover faster than mental health. Days 5-8 were the absolute worst for me. Everybody was there, offering help yet there’s no one with you. Most isolating disease. Please do reach out and seek help,” she tweeted.
