Legendary Australian speedster Brett Lee surprised everyone with his order of six legendary pacers in the fun and blind ranking test on the sidelines of the ongoing World Championship of Legends 2025 (WCL 2025) in England.

Brett Lee got the first name of Mitchell Starc, Australia’s fiery left-arm pacer, and he ranked him third. Starc has over 350 wickets in Tests, nearly 240 in ODIs, and more than 70 in T20Is, and he is still one of the most dangerous fast bowlers across formats for Australia.

Brett Lee’s fast bowling order stuns fans

But the game took an interesting turn when Jasprit Bumrah’s name came next. Without hesitation, Lee placed the Indian pacer at No. 1. Bumrah, with his unorthodox action and deadly accuracy, has already bagged 217 wickets in just 46 Tests, 159 wickets in 89 ODIs, and 89 wickets in 70 T20Is. He is a key weapon for India in all three formats of the game.

Then came Dale Steyn, South Africa’s fierce strike bowler with 439 Test wickets, 196 in ODIs, and 64 in T20Is. Lee had no choice but to slot him at No. 2, saying, “Oh, I didn't know. We're going back. Steyn got to be, well, he was one of my heroes. Two.”

But confusion followed when the legendary Australian fast bowler Glenn McGrath entered the mix. Despite McGrath’s towering 563 Test wickets and 381 in ODIs, Brett Lee could only place him at No. 4, as he thought the ranking was about current players.

Brett Lee says 'SORRY' to Glenn McGrath

Lee told Shafali Bagga in a Star Sports video on the sideline of a WCL 2025 match, “Oh, four. I thought it was about current players. So, Pidgey, I'm sorry.”

Things got tough when James Anderson’s name appeared. The former England fast bowler, who has a staggering 704 Test wickets, 269 ODI wickets, and 18 T20I wickets, was ranked only at No. 5, as the former Australian fast bowler was left with five and six, so he ranked him number five.

Lee admitted it felt unfair, saying, “Zero. Because he's number one.”

Lastly, the former South Africa bowler and current Indian bowling coach Morne Morkel was placed at No. 6, as Lee completed the blind test by calling it harder than picking a favorite child. Morkel has over 300 wickets in Tests, 188 ODI wickets, and 47 wickets in T20I cricket to his name.

The Aussie great signed off by saying, “Morne Morkel has more than 300 Test wickets, and he is a legend. So, he has to be number six. But sorry, Jimmy. I would have changed things around a little bit. It's like picking your favorite child.”

Shikhar Dhawan carnage powers India Champions to 203 against Australia Champions in WCL 2025 clash

Currently, the Australia Champions are facing the India Champions in the World Championship of Legends 2025 clash at Headingley. Australia Champions skipper Brett Lee won the toss and invited Yuvraj Singh’s India Champions to bat first at Headingley in Leeds on Saturday, July 26.

Shikhar Dhawan and Yusuf Pathan took charge and stitched together a powerful 100-run partnership for the fifth wicket. Dhawan played an unbeaten knock of 91 runs from just 60 balls. On the other hand, Pathan turned up the heat with a blazing 52 off only 23 balls to help India post a big total of 203/4 in 20 overs.
