Australian cricketer Cameron Bancroft is set to miss the entire season of the ongoing Big Bash League (BBL) after he collided awkwardly with his Sydney Thunder teammate Daniel Sams, who was also injured badly.

It is believed that Cameron Bancroft broke both his shoulder and nose during the awful collision with his teammate Sams. The incident happened during the 22nd match of the BBL between Perth Scorchers and Sydney Thunder at Perth played on January 3.

Cameron Bancroft ruled out of the entire BBL

The unfortunate incident has now ruled Cameron Bancroft out of the entire season of the Big Bash League. There is also a possibility that the top-order batter might miss the entire domestic season in Australian cricket.

While Bancroft's injury is more serious, Daniel Sams was also injured badly and is expected to be on the sidelines for at least 12 days. Both Bancroft and Sams experienced concussions after colliding with each other and have been advised to rest.

Both the players were admitted quickly to the Perth Hospital after colliding with each other and spent the whole night there. It was an unfortunate end to the match for both the players, especially Bancroft, whose injury seems to be more serious.

Trent Copeland updates the health status of both players

Sydney Thunder general manager Trent Copeland provided an update on the health of both the players and revealed that they were fine now. He thanked the authorities and the medical staff for providing adequate support to the players throughout the whole night.

"Both players in good spirits and well looked after last year. The Perth Scorchers and the medical staff on ground and the hospital staff were incredible all through the night. Big thanks from me and the Thunder and both players and their families," Copeland stated on Channel 7.

"Two incredibly tough individuals as well. Talk to anyone about Cameron Bancroft and how he plays the game and what he is made of. He is tough stuff. Bangers was watching the game last night and watched every ball right to the conclusion," he added.

While both the players were fine, it will create a problem for Sydney Thunder to prepare a balanced team. Bancroft is the main top-order batter for the team and is also capable of keeping wickets. On the other hand, Sams provides the all-round option for his team and is a capable left-arm pacer.

How did the incident happen?

The incident happened during the 16th over of the first innings when Perth Scorchers were batting. Cooper Connolly clipped a full ball on his pads aerially to midwicket where Cameron Bancroft collided brutally with Daniel Sams.

Sams had earlier caught the ball after he ran back but collided badly with Bancroft, who was coming from the other end. Both the players didn't realize each other coming and the catch was eventually dropped. The physio arrived on the ground soon but both the players were taken off the field.

Hugh Weibgen and Oliver Davies were named as the concussion substitutes for both players as Bancroft and Sams couldn't take any further part in the match. It was a disappointing end in the match for both these players.
