Can't Compare Indian Players With Pakistan Players; Pakistan Has More Talent: Abdul Razzaq

Former Pakistan all-rounder Abdul Razzaq has been in the limelight earlier, too, for some debatable comments. In 2020, Abdul Razzaq grabbed the spotlight when he disrespected Jasprit Bumrah, calling him a ‘baby bowler’ compared to the ones he faced. The explosive all-rounder has once again made headlines, commenting that Pakistan has more talented players than India and that it would be wrong to compare them.
While India and Pakistan have almost always been at loggerheads due to the unpredictable political situation, players from both countries come in comparison. One of the most heated comparisons doing rounds since the last couple of years is between Indian captain Virat Kohli and Babar Azam, recently appointed captain across formats. Inevitably, Kohli has established himself as a legend in all the versions while Babar is rapidly getting up there; hence, it’s premature to compare both.
When spoken on this topic, Abdul Razzaq feels that comparing Pakistan and India players is unfair since the former has stayed ahead in that aspect. The 41-year old reminded that Pakistan has historically produced elite cricketers like Inzamam-Ul-Haq, Mohammad Yousuf, Saeed Anwar, Javed Miandad, Zaheer Abbas, Ijaz Ahmed.
“Firstly, we should not say such a thing [compare Virat Kohli with Babar Azam]. You can’t compare Indian players with Pakistan players because Pakistan has more talent. If you look at our history, we have so many great players who we can draw comparisons with like Mohammad Yousaf, Inzamamul Haq, Saeed Anwar, Javed Miandad, Zaheer Abbas and Ijaz Ahmed,” Razzaq told Cricket Pakistan.
Virat Kohli and Babar Azam are completely different players: Abdul Razzaq
The Lahore-born all-rounder further stated that Babar Azam and Virat Kohli are entirely different players and matches between India and Pakistan are essential to judge who is better amongst the two. Razzaq agrees that the Indian captain is an excellent player; however, Pakistan should refrain from comparing theirs to Indian cricketers since their Asian counterparts refuse to do the same.
“Virat Kohli and Babar Azam are completely different players. If we want to compare the two, then it’s important to hold matches between Pakistan and India and then judge who is a better player,” he added. “Virat Kohli is a good player and he has performed well against Pakistan. I have nothing against him but if Indians don’t compare their players with Pakistan, then we shouldn’t do that as well,” he added.
