After Mirabai Chanu, PV Sindhu, and the Indian men’s hockey team, Ravi Kumar Dahiya has brought glory to the nation in the ongoing Tokyo Olympics. Ravi Kumar Dahiya earned a silver medal in the men’s 57 kg freestyle event, albeit a loss to Russia’s Zavur Uguev in the decider. As a result, the cricketers could not hold their emotions back and felt proud of his achievements.

Before Ravi Kumar Dahiya won the silver medal in the Tokyo Olympics, he won the Asian Championships and bagged the bronze medal at the 2019 World championships. The 23-year old was also the silver medalist in the U23 Championships in 2018, heading into the event and emerged victorious in a couple of ranking series in 61 kg.
Dahiya beat Colombia’s Oscar Eduardo and Bulgaria’s Gerogi Valentinov in the pre-quarterns and quarters, respectively by technical superiority. The semi-finals saw Ravi clash against Kazakhstan’s Nurislam Sanayev and bounced back after 2-9 to reach the final. However, Zavur Uguev defeated him convincingly in the final, with a scoreline of 4-7 to win the prestigious gold medal.
Hence, India‘s former and current cricketers could not contain their emotions as they congratulated Ravi Kumar Dahiya for becoming the second Indian silver medalist in wrestling after Sushil Kumar. Earlier, Mirabai Chanu won the silver medal in weightlifting, PV Sindhu snared bronze in Badminton, followed by the men’s hockey team doing the same.
