Former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar has cited the reason behind Chennai Super Kings (CSK) managing to brave crunch situations more often than not. He said that the reason behind that is MS Dhoni as he’s utterly cool and never gets carried away.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are having a great time in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. They have stepped on the pressure situations and have displayed some staggering brand of cricket, batting, and bowling decently.

Sunil Gavaskar feels that CSK players don’t feel much pressure as MS Dhoni is their captain and although he stares at them for drop catches, he never puts them under pressure. Speaking to Star Sports, he said:

“Players don’t feel much pressure when MS Dhoni is leading the side. He’s utterly cool and that helps. He stays in the moment and never gets carried away. Yes, he gives them some stares once they drop catches or miss the field but he never puts them under pressure. That is the reason why CSK manage to brave crunch situations more often than not.”

CSK vs SRH: MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by 8 runs 

Chennai Super Kings defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore in their most recent match. They thumped the opposition by 8 runs and marked their third win of the season. Asked to bat first, on account of Devon Conway’s (83), Shivam Dube (52) and Ajinkya Rahane (37) posted a gigantic total of 226 runs on the board.

Defending the target, they then started off pretty well and removed two wickets early. Although they were under pressure after the partnership between Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell, they held their nerves well and stepped up at the crunch situations to win the game by 8 runs.
