David Warner Amongst The ICC Player Of The Month Nominees For November 2021

Ace Australian opener David Warner was amongst the three male players who were nominated for the ICC Player of the Month award for November 2021, as the international cricket governing body announced the men’s and women’s nominees.

The men’s cricketers to be nominated for the ICC Player of the Month award for November 2021, apart from Australia’s David Warner were Pakistani opener Abid Ali and New Zealand bowler Tim Southee.

David Warner was nominated for his Player of the tournament performance in Australia’s T20 World Cup 2021 victory. He scored two crucial fifties in November in the World Cup and a 49. His knock of 89* against West Indies in Australia’s final group match earned him the Player of the Match award.

He followed that up with a 49 against Pakistan in the semi-final and in the final against New Zealand, slammed 53 and shared another strong partnership with Marsh that helped them to a comprehensive eight-wicket victory.

Pakistani opener Abid Ali enjoys a Test average of 49.16 and was exceptional in the first Test against Bangladesh in Chattogram, where he smoked 133 and 91. He put up solid opening partnerships with Abdullah Shafique in both innings, helping Pakistan win the match by 8 wickets and take a 1-0 lead in two-match series.

Tim Southee was the most consistent New Zealand bowler in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021, the T20I series against India as well as the first Test in Kanpur.

He was economical in the T20 World Cup, picking up six wickets in November in five games. He captained in the first two T20Is against India, picking up four wickets, including 3/16 in the second T20I in Ranchi.

Then in the first Test in Kanpur, Southee picked up 5/69 in the first innings, including key wickets of Cheteshwar Pujara and Shreyas Iyer, and dismissed Mayank Agarwal in the second innings, returning 3/75.

Nahida Akhter, Anam Amin And Hayley Matthews Nominated For Women’s Player Of The Month For November 2021

In the women’s cricketers, Bangladesh’s Nahida Akhter, Pakistan’s Anam Amin, and West Indies’ Hayley Matthews were nominated for the ICC Player of the Month award for November 2021.

In the three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe in Bulawayo, Nahida picked 11 wickets for Bangladesh, which included a fifer in the second ODI. She also picked two wickets in Bangladesh’s thrilling three-wicket victory over Pakistan in the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifier 2021.

Slow left-arm orthodox bowler Anam Amin picked up 9 wickets at 11.22 including the best of 5/35 in the 3-match ODI series against West Indies. In the two matches in the Qualifier in Zimbabwe, Amin picked one wicket against Bangladesh and 3/9 against Zimbabwe.

Hayley Matthews in the ODI series against Pakistan scored 57, 26 and 49 in the three games. She also picked up three and four wickets respectively in the first two ODIs. In the one Women’s Qualifier match that she played, she returned 2/20 against Ireland.
