Former Australian swashbuckling opener David Warner has made a significant move by officially registering for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10 draft. David Warner will enter the Pakistan Super League draft for the first time since his ban, and it has caused a frenzy in the cricket community on social media.

Warner, who had turned down an offer to play in the Pakistan Super League in 2019, has now registered for the PSL 10 draft, set to take place on January 11 in Balochistan. This move comes after Warner went unsold in the IPL 2025 mega-auction in November last year, despite having a base price of Rs 2 crore.

On December 31, PSL's official account on X (formerly Twitter) announced the exciting news that David Warner had officially registered for the PSL draft.

““ENDING 2024 ON A HIGH. The Aussie powerhouse David Warner has registered for PSLDraft!” wrote the PSL’s official handle wrote.

David Warner is considered a T20 legend, having scored 3,277 runs in 110 T20I matches at an average of 33.43 and a strike rate of 142.47, with 28 half-centuries and a highest score of 100 not out. The left-handed batter has scored 12,540 runs in 389 T20s at an average of 36.66 and a strike rate of 140.15.

David Warner Unsold in IPL 2025 Mega Auction

David Warner registered for the IPL 2025 auction with a base price of Rs 2 crore but went unsold after a poor IPL 2024 season where he scored only 168 runs with one fifty for the Delhi Capitals. Warner remains the highest overseas run-scorer in IPL history with 6,565 runs, including four centuries and 62 fifties.

Warner's IPL journey began with the Delhi Capitals (then Delhi Daredevils) in 2009, where he played until 2014. SRH acquired him in 2014, made him captain in 2015, and he led Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) to their maiden IPL title in 2016. However, his tenure with SRH ended poorly during the IPL 2021 season.

The 38-year-old is currently playing for the Sydney Thunder in the 2024/25 Big Bash League and could potentially become a regular player in the Pakistan Super League in the coming years.

David Warner Is Second-Highest Run Scorer for Australia Across Formats

David Warner has amassed 18,995 runs in 383 international matches across formats, including 49 centuries and 98 half-centuries. He is behind Ricky Ponting (27,368) in most runs for Australia. Warner’s last appearance for Australia was in the 2024 T20 World Cup, where they were eliminated in the Super 8.

He is a three-time World Cup winner, having clinched titles in the 2015 and 2023 ODI World Cups and the 2021 T20 World Cup. Currently, Warner has been part of the commentary panel for the ongoing 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia.
