Fans on Twitter reacted after Delhi Capitals (DC) defeated Lucknow Super Giants in the 64th game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. They won the game by 19 runs at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Tuesday (14th May) and kept themselves in the hunt for the playoffs. 

Asked to bat first, Delhi Capitals didn’t have the kind of start they would’ve wanted as in-form batter Jake Fraser-McGurk bagged a two-ball duck and perished in the first over. But after that, Abishek Porel (58) and Shai Hope (38) brought the team back into the game and utilized the powerplay well. 

The Porel-Hope duo added 92 runs for the second wicket. Before skipper Rishabh Pant (33) played a crucial knock at number four. He along with Tristan Stubbs (57) scored 47 runs as Delhi Capital finished the innings on high at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. 

Based on the collective effort with the bat, Delhi Capitals posted a total of 208 runs on the board. For Lucknow Super Giants, Naveen-ul-Haq picked two wickets while Ravi Bishnoi and Arshad Khan bagged one wicket each at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. 

In the chase, Lucknow Super Giants were off to the worst possible start with the ball. Delhi Capitals pacer Ishant Sharma wreaked havoc across the top order as he removed both KL Rahul (5) and Quinton de Kock (12) early and then sent Deepak Hooda packing for a duck. 

Marcus Stoinis (5) too fell early as Axar Patel trapped him in lbw and Lucknow was left tottering at 44 for four. Ayush Badoni  (6) along with Nicholas Pooran (61) tried to stitch a partnership but couldn’t as he fell early too. Pooran was the lone warrior for his team as he played a magnificent innings and slammed a crucial half-century. 

However, he perished at the crucial juncture of the game. With Lucknow Super Giants under pressure, Arshad Khan (58*) came as a shining light for them slamming a magnificent half-century to keep his team in the hunt. But Delhi Capitals bowlers held their nerves and closed the game perfectly to win by 19 runs.
