Lucknow Super Giants suffered a 10-wicket defeat to SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) in their recent match in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The Super Giants posted a total of 165/4 in 20 overs. However, Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head helped SRH chase down the target in just 9.4 overs.
Following the defeat in Hyderabad, LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka appeared to engage in a heated conversation with KL Rahul, who remained composed. This animated discussion between Goenka and Rahul grabbed considerable attention from fans and cricket experts on social media platforms.

Sourav Ganguly stated that he couldn't judge the "public reprimand" received by KL Rahul from Sanjiv Goenka. Ganguly mentioned that he couldn't judge based solely on a TV clip as he didn't know the context of Goenka's conversation with Rahul.
“It is not fair for me to make a comment based on a TV grab. I don't know what Sanjeev had spoken to Rahul. So, I leave it at that,” Ganguly said.

The former Indian skipper stated that the Indian team should consider picking Virat Kohli as the opener in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024. Ganguly emphasized that the team should capitalize on Virat's impressive batting form.
“Virat is playing exceptionally well. The way Kohli batted last night – 90 in quick time, you need to use him as opener in T20 World Cup. He should open, evidenced by his last few IPL innings which have been outstanding,” Ganguly added.
Virat Kohli has been in excellent form as an opener for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in IPL 2024. He is the current Orange Cap holder, having scored 634 runs in 12 matches at an average of 70.44 and a strike rate of 153.51. He has smashed a century and five half-centuries this season.

Ganguly expressed satisfaction with the selection of the T20 World Cup squad. He highlighted that the team has strong batting depth and an excellent bowling lineup for the upcoming tournament.
“This is an excellent squad. I think they have picked the best possible squad. Apart from batting depth, bowling looks excellent. Bumrah is the best fast bowler in the world at the moment. We have experience in Kuldeep, Axar, Siraj. It's an ideal combination we have this time,” said Ganguly.
