Former India National Cricket Team player Deep Dasgupta made his prediction for the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. He feels that India National Cricket Team will win the series but it will be a tough challenge for them this time around.

The hype for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 has been massive. Almost every Indian and Australian cricket lover has been waiting for the series as two of the best Test teams will be up against each other in the five-match Test series, which will be played in November-December and January.

Australia and India have engaged in some high-class battles over the years. The last two tours for India down under have been extremely successful. They have won the last two series as they have played a terrific brand of cricket, especially in the last tour when the series with the second-string Indian Team.

The series no doubt will be challenging for both the teams as both have been sensational in the red-ball cricket. Various experts and fans have already started choosing their favorites for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.

Deep Dasgupta was asked about his prediction for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, to which he said that India will win, but it will be a tougher challenge than the last two tours. He pointed out what Australia lacked in the last two series but he believes all the big names available this time, hosts would be tough to face.

However, according to Deep Dasgupta, India will have an edge as they are a much-experienced team, but their success will depend on the fast bowlers. Speaking on talkSport Cricket's YouTube channel, he explained:

"Yes (whether India will win). But it's going to be a lot closer than the last couple of series, which India won in Australia because I thought the last couple of, obviously the first one, 2018, Warner and Smithy, all these guys weren't available. Then, the last one, I don't think there was something wrong with that Australian setup back then.

"I mean, with Pat Cummins in and you know, all those guys, I think it's a better team and a more cohesive Australian side as compared to the last time when India toured. India, I still would say would have the edge with experience and everything. But a big question mark for me is India's, see India's success outside India is on the back of Indian fast bowlers," said Deep Dasgupta.

I'd say India's got the edge - Deep Dasgupta

Deep Dasgupta further pointed out challenges for the Indian Team, saying that they need to make sure that all their fast bowlers are fit for all the games. He stressed that if all the bowlers are fit, India will have an edge. He elaborated:

"Shami has been injured. He hasn't played any competitive cricket as yet, as we record this. Bumrah, we know he's been off and on with injuries and stuff like that. Will he be fit enough to play all five test matches? So the next lot, Siraj and all are coming in. But I mean, again, if India can put all those three guys for all those five test matches, I'd say India's got the edge," he concluded.
