Delhi Capitals Playing 11 vs Punjab Kings- IPL 2025, Match 66:
Openers: KL Rahul, Faf du Plessis
DC will open the innings with KL Rahul and Faf du Plessis. The duo will hope to give the team a good start, something they have failed to do in the last couple of matches.
KL Rahul, who scored a magnificent century in the home game against GT, was dismissed early in the last match and would be itching to get a big score under his belt.
Faf du Plessis, on the other hand, has had a disappointing season as the Delhi Capitals ' vice-captain hasn't been able to cross the 200-run mark so far in the tournament.
Middle-order batsmen and all-rounders: Abishek Porel (wk), Tristan Stubbs, Axar Patel (c), Sameer Rizvi, Ashutosh Sharma
DC would be disappointed by the performance of their entire batting lineup against MI as the likes of Abishek Porel, Sameer Rizvi, and Tristan Stubbs failed to guide the team home.
Delhi Capitals would have surely missed the all-round services of left-arm spinner and left-handed batter Axar Patel, who was unavailable in the last game on a helpful wicket at the Wankhede Stadium.
The lack of expierence was clearly visible after the openers were dismissed as the entire DC batting order crumbled under pressure and the team was bowled out for 121 in a chase of 180.
DC would like to put on a much-improved batting effort in their last game of the season against PBKS on Saturday in order to sign off on a positive note.
Bowlers: Kuldeep Yadav, Vipraj Nigam, Mustafizur Rahman, Dushmantha Chameera, Mohit Sharma
Delhi Capitals will have to rethink their bowling resources if they want to register a win in the upcoming game, with fast bowlers Dushmantha Chamara and Mukesh Kumar proving to be ineffective.
DC would be tempted to bring in Mohit Sharma in place of Chameera or Mukesh.
The only bowler in the fast bowling department who created an impact was Mustafizur Rahman. The experienced pacer made good use of the helpful conditions.
Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, and Vipraj Nigam spin trio is expected to reunite for Delhi Capitals' last game of the season after Axar had to miss out against MI.
Kuldeep and Vipraj pair has bowled well for DC at the Wankhede Stadium and Kept MI's scoring rate in check.
Kuldeep picked up his first wicket after a month and completed 100 IPL wickets in this very game.
Vipraj, on the other hand, complimented Kuldeep with the ball and played a short but counter-attacking innings in the middle order after DC had lost three early wickets.
The duo would want to replicate the performance against a strong and in-form batting lineup of the Punjab Kings.
